Serve our church

We care about your involvement at Brooklin Village Church because your service really makes a difference. Listed below are the many service opportunities where we need your help. Please look around and then contact the leader for the ministry you would like to volunteer.

Worship Team

Worship Team

Leader: Steve Jensen

If you call Brooklin Village Church ‘home’, and you desire to use your gifts for God’s glory, then we would love to have you join our music team. Whether your interests lie in music, sound, or video presentation, these are all key areas that allow our church to engage in worship through song, visuals, and teaching. If you’d like to be a part of any of these areas, we’d love to hear from you.

Children's Ministry

Leader: Ginny Jensen

“Our children are the church of today, not the church of tomorrow.” Our children’s ministry exists to teach children the gospel of Jesus Christ, providing them the tools to live their whole lives in response. Teaching a Bible-centered curriculum, building Christ-centered relationships and having fun along the way.

Welcome & Hospitality

Welcome & Hospitality

Leader: Peter Walters

Every Sunday is someone’s first Sunday at Brooklin Village Church and when they walk in, it’s so important to them to feel welcome and comfortable; Our ‘Welcome Team’ looks to provide an atmosphere that does just that. You can play a significant role in helping someone have a wonderful experience, ensuring they’ll be back.

Serve our community

We believe God has put us in Brooklin, for the people of Brooklin. It’s important to us to be visible as a church in our community and we love to find ways to connect with and build relationships with our ‘neighbours’. The best way we have found to do this is by coming alongside and supporting people and organizations within our community who are already 'doing things well' and asking how we can help. Loving people in practical ways is what begins relationships and it’s in relationships that discussions of faith begin. If you know of opportunities where we can serve as a church, please don’t hesitate to let us know.

Brooklin Christmas in the Village

Christmas in the Village

Each year the town of Brooklin holds a community event in place of a Santa Claus Parade. We participate each year by putting up a Cookie Decorating Station serving 700+ people, which is an amazing opportunity to connect with our “neighbours” here in Brooklin. One of the challenges with not having a church building is not being as visible, so it’s been extremely beneficial to be present in our community in ways like this.

BVC Community Sports Night

Community Sports Night

Playing sports with one another is a great way to connect with and build relationships with people. Our Community Sports Night is a great opportunity to get to know people within the church, but also to invite out friends and neighbours to hang out for a couple hours. We meet Tuesday nights at the Brooklin Community Centre from September – April between 7:30 and 10:00 pm. We play volleyball from 7:30 – 8:45 pm and ball hockey from 8:45 – 10:00 pm. Come join us some night; everyone is welcome!

Feed the Hungry

Feed the Hungry

Leader: Janice Higgins

On a quarterly basis, we head down to the Regent Park area of Toronto to participate in a soup kitchen hosted by ‘Church in the City’.  There are many opportunities to get involved in this ministry by making/supplying food and we’re always looking for people to go down and help us serve.  You’ll definitely want to keep an eye out for the next chance to get involved!

Brooklin Kid's Choir

Leader: Ginny Jensen

Brooklin Kid’s Choir takes place at the Brooklin Recreation Centre/Library on Tuesday nights from 6:30 – 7:45 pm.   It’s an amazing outreach opportunity where 2/3’s of our choir is made up of kids from the community.  They get to come and learn about a God who loves them through song and we get the special opportunity of engaging with them and their families!

Cheryl Gordon's Movie in the Park

Movie in the Park

Much like ‘Christmas in the Village’ we partner with a local Real Estate Agent here in town that holds an HUGE movie night that 2000+ people attend. As a church, we’re able to be involved and connect with all kinds of people by showing God’s love in a practical way through our service and by offering some great treats for those attending the movie!

Serve our world

Just like we’re called to serve our ‘neighbour’ we’re also called to serve and take the good news of Christ ‘to the ends of the earth, whether that’s within Canada or beyond our boarders and we love supporting and working alongside people who are doing just that.

Possibilities House

Possibilities House

Mexico

A number of years ago, we decided that rather than move forward with a building project, we would rather see our funds go towards supporting an orphanage in Linares, Mexico, which has become an area dear to our hearts. With that as our goal, we formed a board and partnered with Rick and Lisa Bursey to start Possibilities House. Many of the kids we have the opportunity to take in are referred to as ‘narco orphans’ which means they’ve been orphaned as a result of the drug trade in the area. We take teams down each year to work at the children’s home and to serve the surrounding community of Linares. If you’d like more details, don’t hesitate to ask. You can check them out at www.possibilitieshouse.org
